Job summary

Motional is seeking a Senior Component Engineer for its Vehicle Platform Component team in Pittsburgh to own HMI Cabin Monitoring systems for the next-generation platform. You will lead development, validation, and production readiness of HMI and CMS components, ensuring performance, cost, and timing objectives.

You will collaborate with software, design release, system engineers and Tier-1 suppliers, managing requirements, verification and testing from bench to vehicle, and driving issue

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in automotive component design, development and integration.
• Experience with HMI systems engineering and SW development.
• Experience with in-cabin monitoring technologies and AI in-cabin detection.
• Familiar with automotive communication protocols (CAN, CAN-FD, Ethernet).
• Proficiency in Linux and scripting for testing and validation.
• Knowledge of automotive diagnostics tools (Vector CANoe/CANape/vFlash).
• Familiar with time-synchronization protocols (PTP/IEEE 802.1AS).
• Experience with requirement compliance and issue-tracking tools (JIRA, Polarion, Confluence).
• Familiarity with HPC architectures (NVIDIA DRIVE AGX/Thor).
• Experience with lab equipment and environmental testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage component-level technical requirements throughout the program lifecycle.
• Lead technical collaboration with component suppliers as the internal expert.
• Ensure components meet performance, safety and reliability specifications.
• Adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with Design Release Engineers to meet program targets.
• Coordinate with Systems Engineers to ensure integration.
• Validate component functionality through bench and vehicle testing.
• Lead issue resolution with suppliers and internal teams.
