Job summary

Serco is seeking an HM&E Systems Engineer to support U.S. Navy Surface Ship Fleet. The role focuses on lifecycle management, maintenance planning, and actionable recommendations to improve fleet readiness and sailor safety, with extensive cross‑agency coordination.

You will prepare propulsion directives and review gas turbine systems, while developing technical documentation and advisory communications for NAVSEA and related stakeholders. A DoW Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Active DoW Secret security clearance required.
• Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years’ naval shipboard engineering experience, or HS diploma with 4+ years’ experience.
• Knowledge of U.S. Navy ship configuration, management principles and activities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; familiar with eARRTS and HARs.
• Ability to travel up to 10% as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare machinery and propulsion directives; review gas turbine propulsion and related systems.
• Provide engineering support for HM&E systems on Navy surface ships.
• Analyze failures, casualty reports, and maintenance actions for corrective action.
• Perform lifecycle engineering assessments including sustainment and modernization.
• Review technical docs, drawings, and installation procedures.
• Draft Naval Advisory Messages and support Navy communications.
• Utilize Navy systems to prepare advisory communications and maintain eARRTS records.
• Develop technical briefings and readiness dashboards using Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
