Job summary

Neon Aero is seeking a Staff-level engineer to own the hardware-in-the-loop test environments for flight-critical actuator control software. You will architect, build, and qualify HIL environments used for certification credits, with end-to-end responsibility across architecture, tool selection, and test automation.

You will define the real-time platform, CAN interfaces, and sensor feedback, and lead tool qualification strategy under DO-178C and DO-330.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, computer, aerospace, or mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years in embedded or aerospace systems with at least 5 years leading HIL or lab environments.
• Direct experience with DO-178C verification objectives and evidence for certification reviews.
• Hands-on experience with real-time test platforms and their Python or scripting APIs.

Responsibilities

• Define end-to-end HIL environment architecture including real-time platform, IO, signal conditioning, wiring harnesses, and ICD.
• Lead trade studies and selection of real-time test hardware and defend recommendations on technical, schedule, cost, and tool qualification grounds.
• Specify and integrate a real-time motor and load model with appropriate fidelity to close loops.
• Design sensor feedback, CAN interfaces, and data acquisition for cross-channel monitoring.
• Own the Python test framework and hardware abstraction layer for retargetable scripts across environments.
