Job summary

Neon Aero seeks a Staff-level engineer to own hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) verification environments for flight-critical actuator control software. You will define end-to-end HIL architecture, select real-time hardware, and ensure traceable, certification-ready environments.

Strong Python, DO-178C, and lab hardware skills are essential. You will lead design, build, and qualification activities across mechanical, electrical, and software domains, coordinating with peer engineers and external

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in EE/CS/Aerospace/Mech or equivalent.
  • 10+ years in embedded or aerospace systems with HIL or lab environment leadership.
  • DO-178C verification objectives experience and DO-330 tool qualification knowledge.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one real-time test platform and its Python or scripting API.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and build the HIL environment architecture (real-time platform, IO, signal conditioning, wiring, ICD).
  • Lead platform trade study and selection of real-time test hardware; justify recommendations.
  • Specify and integrate a real-time motor and load model with appropriate loop rates.
  • Design position sensor feedback strategy, CAN interfaces, and cross-channel data instrumentation.
  • Own the Python test framework and hardware abstraction layer; map signals to physical channels; ensure traceability.
