Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking an HIL Engineer to design and maintain test strategies for product development and system integration. You will implement software-based test automation, configure HIL benches, and manage test assets across multiple projects.

The role requires deep expertise with dSPACE, CAN/LIN networks, and programming in Python/C++/MATLAB. Hybrid onsite work in Dearborn, MI is expected with a competitive salary and extensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years with dSPACE HIL simulators for commissioning, operation and support.
• 5+ years with dSPACE ControlDesk and AutomationDesk suites.
• 5+ years with automotive diagnostics tools and ECU software flashing.
• 5+ years designing reusable test automation libraries for System HIL environments.
• 4+ years integrating hardware/I/O interfaces on dSPACE platforms.
• 4+ years programming in Python, C++, MATLAB/Simulink, Visual Basic.
• 4+ years working with CAN/LIN networks and Vector tools.
• 2+ years applying formal QA methodologies.
• 2+ years implementing SCM systems (Git/SVN/Windchill).
• Domain experience in HV/ADAS/chassis/powertrain/cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

• Document, review, and evaluate automation requirements; select hardware/software tools.
• Design, implement, validate, and maintain software-based test automation frameworks.
• Procure, configure, and maintain hardware and software test assets for HIL.
• Establish configuration management architectures and pipelines for test artifacts/data.
• Identify bottlenecks and drive CI/CD and automation strategies.
• Author technical docs, user guides, and SOPs; deliver training to validation teams.
