Job summary

VHB seeks a Senior Project Engineer for Highway/Roadway design in Springfield, MA, delivering sustainable, integrated transportation projects for municipalities, state agencies, and private partners.

You will lead design efforts from concept through final design and construction, mentor staff, and coordinate with drainage, utilities, structures, and traffic teams. A MA PE license is required and growth opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field required.
• 8–11+ years of professional transportation engineering experience.
• Current MA Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Task Manager/Senior Engineer for state and local clients.
• Coordinate roadway design with drainage, utilities, structures, traffic, and environmental disciplines.
• Execute scope for transportation design projects from Concept Development to Final Design and Construction Administration.
• Prepare and review models, drawings, and specifications.
• Demonstrate knowledge of MassDOT design process.
• Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance.
• Collaborate with VHB professionals for integrated project delivery.
• Monitor project performance and attend client/regulator meetings.
• Assist with strategy for expanding transportation design services in Western MA.
• Support development of proposals and track client work programs.
• Participate in professional organizations to foster client relationships.
