Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking an engineering design lead to drive projects within a disciplined team. You will coordinate with the Project Manager, manage sub-tasks, oversee quality, and deliver designs that meet client specifications on schedule and on budget.

Ideal candidates have ABET-accredited civil engineering degrees and 6+ years in a related field, with strong OpenRoads and design software skills, plus excellent communication and presentation abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program.
• 6 or 10+ years' experience in specialized discipline.
• Understanding of OpenRoads.
• Proficient in discipline specific design software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Written and communication skills.
• Presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Manager by executing discipline project management responsibilities and estimating hours and scope.
• Provide design status updates to the Project Manager.
• Track budgets for discipline tasks.
• Oversee sub-tasks within the discipline for projects.
• Perform quality control and QA per PMP guidance.
• Delegate project tasks to team members.
• Coach/mentor design staff through the design process.
• Provide consultative services to clients and attend meetings.
• Collaborate with sub-consultants and internal disciplines.
• Develop extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals.
• Plan and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work.
• Design projects using advanced discipline knowledge and client specs.
• Perform or check design calculations and produce contract plans/specs/estimates.
• Coordinate with internal teams to meet deadlines and quality.
