Winter Maintenance Incentive

Job summary

State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Highway Maintenance, District 6, seeks a Highway Maintainer III in Exeter, NH. Salary offered per hour with trainee pathway and a winter maintenance incentive.

Position includes training opportunities and full-time state employment. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining heavy equipment for highway maintenance, supervising entry-level staff, and ensuring safety and compliance with DOT standards.

Qualifications

• Education/Experience: 1 year of education and experience after high school.
• License/Certification: Valid Commercial Driver's License, Class A (CDL-A) with appropriate tank endorsement.
• Other Requirements: MVR meets minimum standards; pre-employment drug screen; ability to lift up to 50 lbs; be reachable 24 hours.

Responsibilities

• Operates and troubleshoots complex highway maintenance equipment and machinery for maintenance projects.
• Maintains assigned equipment and performs repairs to ensure serviceability.
• Observes winter storm conditions and determines plowing/abrasives actions per safety policies; trains entry-level staff.
• Supervises and reviews work of entry-level personnel and small crews.
