Job summary

RINA is seeking a Senior Highway Engineer to join our Cleveland or Columbus, OH office in the Civil Engineering Division. This role balances hands-on engineering with leadership, delivering high-visibility transportation projects and mentoring junior engineers.

You will engage with clients, contribute to proposals, and help grow our regional footprint while maintaining collaboration with project leadership and cross-functional teams. Remote options may be available.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
• 8+ years of experience in design engineering, preferably on ODOT or other roadway transportation projects.
• Ohio Professional Engineering (PE) License or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Proficiency in MicroStation Open Roads Design and/or AutoCAD Civil3D.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and coordinate with others on larger, multidiscipline projects.
• Proficiency in standard engineering procedures and project management methodologies and techniques.
• Working knowledge of computer-aided design software and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work independently under a hybrid/remote location situation.

Responsibilities

• Designs, CAD drawings, and specifications on assigned projects under PM guidance.
• Coordinate with project team, other departments, suppliers, and clients.
• Coordinate with drafters, designers, and staff engineers within the project team.
• Complete drawings and project responsibilities within scope, budget, and schedule.
• Review drawings for completeness, accuracy, and constructability.
• Develop conceptual and basic engineering documents including studies and material specs.
• Utilize computer aided engineering/design software and equipment.
• Observe safety and security procedures.
