Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP in Richmond, VA is seeking a Senior Roadway Engineer to lead the design of highway projects and supervise junior staff. The role involves coordinating with disciplines, developing horizontal and vertical alignments, and delivering roadway plans, profiles, and traffic design elements on complex projects.

The ideal candidate has a PE license in Virginia or can obtain by comity, 16+ years of highway engineering experience (VDOT a plus), and strong communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited program (master's preferred).
• P.E. license in Virginia or able to obtain within six months via comity.
• 16+ years highway engineering experience, including experience with VDOT.
• Strong oral and written communication at all organization levels.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead roadway design projects and supervise junior engineers.
• Coordinate with other design disciplines to develop deliverables.
• Design horizontal and vertical alignments, road plans and profiles.
• Roadside evaluation and design; maintenance of traffic design.
• Prepare construction plans, specifications, cost estimates and technical reports.
• Coordinate with client and subconsultants.
