Job summary

VHB’s North Carolina team seeks a Senior Project Manager – Highway Design to lead complex transportation projects for federal, state, and local clients from Charlotte or Raleigh offices. You’ll develop client relationships, guide multidisciplinary staff, and shape expansion of services in NC.

The role requires substantial PM experience, NC PE licensure, and advanced knowledge of highway design, with a strong emphasis on leadership and collaboration.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field; MS preferred.
• 11–15+ years in transportation engineering with NC market experience.
• NC PE license required and proven government project success.
• Strong leadership and client management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead federal, state, and local transportation projects for NC clients.
• Develop and manage client relationships and proposals.
• Direct staff and provide professional development.
• Monitor project financial performance and scope
• Lead meetings with clients, agencies, and stakeholders.
• Oversee design through feasibility to PS&E packaging.
• Promote expansion of transportation services in NC.
• Participate in professional organizations and partnerships.
• Collaborate on bid submissions and new opportunities.
