Job description

Job Description:

Develop conceptual designs for substation systems supporting solar projects.

Create high voltage equipment bills of materials for early procurement of long-lead items.

Prepare bid documents for new substation constructions.

Collaborate with Construction Project Managers and subcontractors during design and construction phases.

Verify specifications for owner-provided substation equipment.

Develop internal drawings for typical substation layouts, protection, and equipment specifications for replication in similar projects.

Review external engineering consultant drawings (30/60/90/IFC) to ensure compliance with utility and owner standards.

Create maintenance plans for substations and transmission tie lines.

Ensure quality control on engineering submittals from internal teams and subcontractors.

Coordinate design activities with stakeholders such as owners, PJM, transmission operators, and during commissioning.

Coordinate design elements with SCADA, transmission operators, control rooms, and other operational stakeholders.

Conduct site visits during various project phases: development, construction, and operation.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in substation engineering.
• Experience with 35kV, 115kV, and 230kV systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience managing substation projects both remotely and on-site.

This position is open for remote work within the Mid-Atlantic for suitable candidates.
