Job summary

Manulife is hiring a Senior Underwriting Consultant focused on high-net-worth clients. The role involves reviewing complex cases, applying robust risk assessment, and making decisive, customer-centric underwriting decisions from a remote setup.

You’ll collaborate with sales and head office teams, aiming to protect clients while growing profitable business. A related degree and professional designations are preferred; strong medical knowledge is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of underwriting experience.
• $5,000,000+ Life signing authority.
• Experience with high net worth market.
• Sales and relationship-focused mindset.
• Pursuing or completion of FALU, FLMI and ACS designations.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology including physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, imaging, diagnostic testing and treatments.
• Knowledge of how non-medical risks impact mortality.
• Experience with financial reports and anti-money laundering training.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and collaborate with sales and head office colleagues to provide high-quality, competitive decisions for high-net-worth customers.
• Conduct risk assessment and classification per Manulife’s philosophy and standards.
• Maintain positive relationships with internal and external partners.
• Deliver the best customer experience by making each interaction meaningful.
• Ensure alignment with consumer laws regarding risk classification, confidentiality and disclosure.
• Identify and propose solutions to problems related to underwriter work.
