Job summary

SourceLine is seeking an experienced heavy equipment mechanic for a role that blends field service and shop work, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining fleets at customer sites and in the shop.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years on heavy equipment, knowledge of brands like John Deere, Komatsu, Caterpillar, and Bobcat, and can troubleshoot diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems while delivering excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• At least 6 years of hands-on heavy equipment experience.
• Strong knowledge of John Deere, Komatsu, Caterpillar, Bobcat, or similar equipment.
• High school diploma or equivalent; trade certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose equipment malfunctions using meters, diagnostic tools, and field-testing methods.
• Perform repairs on engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and machine control systems.
• Conduct scheduled maintenance and major service intervals on heavy equipment.
• Handle field service calls to return equipment to operation or assist in transporting units back to the shop.
• Perform in-shop diagnostics, repairs, inspections, and equipment preparation to support branch operations as needed.
• Repair and maintain components such as enclosures, dashboards, wiring, lighting systems, and control panels.
• Prepare equipment for rental readiness, ensuring machines meet safety and performance standards.
• Move equipment in and out of the yard/shop using forklifts or operating the units directly.
• Maintain accurate repair records, work orders, and inspection documentation.
• Keep tools, service truck, and work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety procedures.
• Communicate effectively with the branch team and customers while on job sites.
