Job summary

The State of West Virginia Department of Transportation seeks a Transportation Worker 3 Equipment Operator to support construction and maintenance of highways from the Upshur County yard. You will operate heavy equipment, perform field repairs, and may lead other operators. Overnight travel may be required.

A CDL is mandatory, and progression through a DOL apprenticeship is offered. Tier 1 hourly rate is $23.5738.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B CDL and four years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience operating heavy equipment.
• Substitutions: vocational school program may substitute for two years of the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy highway maintenance equipment (bulldozer, excavator, dump truck, crane, etc.).
• Lead or train lower-level equipment operators.
• Perform minor field repairs and routine maintenance; clean and lubricate equipment.
