Job summary

Republic Services in New Jersey is seeking a Maintenance Technician A to perform repair and maintenance on diesel and non-diesel equipment, including chassis components, refuse bodies, air brakes, engines, HVAC, and drive trains. You will work with state-of-the-art fleet, supporting drivers and routes.

Under supervision, you will tackle new challenges, receive training on new technologies, and pursue strong career paths with competitive wages and benefits.

Qualifications

• Diagnose multi-system issues with strong technical proficiency.
• 5–7 years of experience as a technician on heavy-duty trucks.
• Ability to inspect and repair various heavy truck or automotive systems: suspensions, engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drive train, diesel emissions.
• ASE Heavy Truck Certifications (T1-T8) are a plus but not required.
• CDL Class B or higher is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintains advanced knowledge of vehicle components and systems and performs complex repair work on-site and on the road.
• Chassis repair and maintenance.
• Refuse bodies including control, hydraulic and electrical systems; air and hydraulic braking systems.
• Engine repair and diagnostics.
• Complete understanding of diesel fuel systems and diagnostics.
• Suspension, drivetrain and steering systems.
• HVAC diagnostics and repair.
• Aftertreatment systems diagnostics.
• Diagnose electrical concerns with scan tools.
• Line welding and fabrication.
• Identify malfunction sources with electronic tools.
• Complete applicable Company training programs.
