Job summary

Orion Placement seeks an experienced Field Superintendent for heavy civil, site development, and utility projects around the suburban NYC/Westchester area. You will lead daily field operations, supervise crews, and coordinate with subs to keep work on schedule and safe.

The role requires 5+ years in heavy civil, strong earthwork/underground utility knowledge, and hands-on leadership. Site development experience is highly preferred; local travel to project sites is expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of heavy civil construction experience.
• Experience with earthwork, excavation, and grading.
• Strong underground utility experience including sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and water systems.
• Experience supervising crews and managing day-to-day field operations.
• Working knowledge of survey and construction layout.
• Leadership, organization, problem-solving, and quality-control skills.
• Experience with GPS/GNSS machine control or guidance systems preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Project, Word, and Outlook.
• Site development, excavation or utility contractor experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily field operations for heavy civil, sitework, and utility projects.
• Supervise field crews and coordinate subcontractors to stay on schedule and safe.
• Manage earthwork operations including excavation, grading, and site prep.
• Oversee underground utility installation such as sanitary sewer, drainage, and water systems.
• Perform and verify survey and layout work in the field.
• Coordinate with electric, communications, and other utilities.
• Oversee roadway construction including subgrade prep and paving.
• Manage installation of curbs, sidewalks, and site finishes.
• Maintain quality control and ensure work meets plans and specifications.
• Enforce jobsite safety standards and company procedures.
• Resolve field challenges by coordinating labor, equipment, and priorities.
