Job summary

Orionplacement in Thornwood, NY is seeking a Senior Field Supervisor to lead heavy civil, sitework, and utility construction projects across Westchester and the Tri-State area.

You will oversee field crews, manage earthwork and underground utilities, ensure safety and quality, and coordinate with subcontractors to keep projects on schedule. 5+ years of heavy civil experience required. Join a growing organization with a strong pipeline and hands-on leadership.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of heavy civil construction experience.
• Experience with earthwork, excavation, and grading.
• Strong underground utility experience including sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and water systems.
• Experience supervising crews and managing day‑to‑day field operations.
• Working knowledge of survey and construction layout.
• Strong leadership, organization, problem‑solving, and quality‑control skills.
• Experience with GPS/GNSS machine control or machine guidance systems preferred.
• General proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Project, Word, and Outlook.
• Site development, excavation contractor, utility contractor, or suburban civil construction experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily field operations for heavy civil, sitework, and utility construction projects.
• Supervise field crews and coordinate subcontractors to keep projects safe, productive, and on schedule.
• Manage earthwork operations including excavation, grading, site preparation, and related activities.
• Oversee underground utility installation including sanitary sewer, storm drainage, water systems, and pump stations.
• Perform and verify survey and layout work in the field.
• Coordinate with electric, communications, and other utility providers.
• Oversee roadway construction including subgrade preparation and paving.
• Manage installation of curbs, sidewalks, pavers, asphalt, and other site finishes.
• Maintain quality control and ensure work meets plans, specifications, and project requirements.
• Enforce jobsite safety standards and company procedures.
• Solve field challenges quickly while coordinating labor, equipment, subcontractors, and project priorities.
