Job summary

Granite Construction is seeking a seasoned project leader to oversee all aspects of heavy civil projects up to $15 million, ensuring on-time delivery and profitability. The role requires coordinating with estimators, project controls, and field teams to drive safe, efficient execution and client satisfaction.

You will manage budgets, schedules, and bid processes, build strong relationships with owners and subcontractors, and contribute to continuous improvement across project operations.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field.
• 3–5 years progressive project experience in heavy civil environments.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in paving, dirt, and grading in either private or public environments.
• Knowledge of union agreements and prevailing wage issues.
• Ability to work in a high production environment.
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.

Responsibilities

• Forecast project revenue and costs to meet profitability goals.
• Coordinate with estimators and project controls to establish budget.
• Lead estimating efforts on vertically integrated projects to ensure accurate bid-to-build process.
• Coordinate with sponsors, managers, and project team to meet project schedule.
• Participate in bid review and bid closing to ensure bid accuracy and feasibility.
• Develop comprehensive startup plan for project start-up and successful kickoff.
• Provide environment for dynamic project communication among project engineers, foremen, superintendents, and construction manager.
• Ensure proper job controls: quantities, costs, revenue and schedule.
• Maintain relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, and inspectors to build long-term partnerships.
• Produce accurate construction reports for continuous improvement in performance.
• Run projects at profitability levels to meet or exceed margins.
