Job summary

Jobot in the Greater Philadelphia market is seeking an experienced Estimator with a heavy civil focus to join our team. You will prepare comprehensive cost and labor estimates for heavy civil projects and work with clients and vendors to refine bids.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of heavy civil estimating experience, a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, and proficiency in cost analysis and HCSS. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in heavy civil construction estimating.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Proficient in cost analysis and HCSS experience.
• Experience preparing bids for heavy civil projects.
• Strong knowledge of materials, labor, and equipment in heavy civil work.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Detail-oriented with high accuracy, able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed cost estimates for heavy civil projects (earthwork, utilities, roadway).
• Analyze blueprints and specs to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.
• Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems.
• Prepare and maintain supplier and subcontractor directories.
• Review material and labor requirements to optimize make-or-buy decisions.
• Prepare cost and expenditure statements for project duration.
• Consult with clients and vendors to resolve estimate issues.
• Maintain records of estimated vs actual costs.
