Job summary

Primoris Heavy Civil seeks an experienced Construction Cost Estimator to prepare accurate bids for DOTD and public works, including roadways, bridges, and utilities. You will perform quantity takeoffs, analyze costs, and develop competitive unit pricing in line with DOTD procedures.

Ideal candidates have 5–10+ years of heavy civil estimating, read plans precisely, and leverage HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and AGTEK to produce thorough bid packages and schedules with clear documentation.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil or DOT/public works.
• Strong knowledge of DOTD specifications and bidding processes.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency in estimation software and cost analysis.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for DOTD/public works projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs from plans, specs, and bid documents.
• Analyze labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor costs.
• Develop bid proposals and unit pricing in DOTD structures.
• Review bid docs, plans, specs, and special provisions for compliance.
• Coordinate bid schedules, deadlines, and submission requirements.
• Solicit and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Provide value engineering ideas to improve cost efficiency.
