Job summary

William Charles Construction, a MasTec Company, is seeking a Senior Estimator based in the Midwest to lead heavy civil bid efforts for highways and roadways. You will takeoffs, cost estimates, and risk assessments for complex projects, coordinating with clients, engineers, and suppliers.

Ideal candidates have a civil/construction management degree and at least five years in heavy civil estimating, with earthwork, underground, and paving experience; DOT knowledge preferred and readiness to travel

Qualifications

• Review, analyze and interpret contract documents to provide accurate cost estimates.
• Develop preliminary budget estimates and itemized summary for go/no-go evaluation.
• Identify issues and develop risk exposure summary with cost impacts
• Provide creative and innovative thinking to analyze and develop strategy and value engineering solutions.
• Effective communication with clients, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers
• Perform and review quantity takeoff comparisons to provide evaluation for accuracy and acceptance
• Work with scheduling staff and operations to develop bid schedules
• Present complete and accurate estimates to support decision making.

Responsibilities

• Company representation at pre-bids and site visits
• Review, analyze and interpret contract documents for complete understanding of the work and owner deliverables to provide accurate, detailed cost estimates.
• Review opportunity pursuits and develop preliminary budget estimate and itemized summary for go/no-go evaluation.
