Senior Estimator - Heavy Civil & Infrastructure

Job summary

William Charles Construction, a MasTec Company, is seeking an experienced Chief Estimator with extensive heavy civil estimating background, including highways and roadways. The Chief Estimator will lead estimating teams, own the estimates, and coordinate with cost control and ERP interfaces for both Rockford IL and Indianapolis IN offices.

Reporting to the VP of estimating, you will drive bid quality and strategy across public and private sector work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, and/or related field experience
• 10-15 years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating; earth moving, utilities, concrete/bridges
• Experience with DOT/Municipal bids (IDOT/INDOT) and private sitework
• Experience with Design Build, CMGC and P3 is a plus
• Ability to manage estimating team on large pursuits and complete estimate oversight

Responsibilities

• Estimating team oversight including project assignments, estimate reviews, risk assessment, final bid close and submittal
• Self-perform preparation and complete ownership of estimates
• Subcontractor and supplier research and outreach for scope coverage
• Post bid budget creation and project setup; ERP interface coordination
• Develop preconstruction meetings for project handoff to operations
• Lead progress and proposal review meetings
• Collaborate with Diversity Department to ensure goals and requirements
• Provide risk exposure summaries with cost impacts
• Develop strategy and value engineering solutions
• Communicate with clients, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers
• Provide complete estimates to Executive Management for review
