Job summary

Independence Excavating, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Estimator for heavy civil construction. You will determine total project costs by building comprehensive estimates and coordinating with subcontractors to ensure bid quality.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of heavy civil experience, strong data analytics, and proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid/HeavyJob, Primavera/P6, and standard accounting software. This on-site role offers growth opportunities and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in heavy civil work required.
• Strong organizational skills to handle diverse tasks.
• Ability to communicate effectively with owners, engineers and contractors.
• Experience with HCSS HeavyBid/HeavyJob; Primavera/P6 and accounting software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read, understand and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Solicit quotes from subcontractors and suppliers and target 95% complete estimates before review.
• Prepare rough project schedules to determine timeframes.
• Review estimated productions with superintendents to finalize bids.
• Enter detailed data into HCSS HeavyBid software.
• Other duties as assigned.
