American Senior Communities seeks an experienced Associate General Counsel (Healthcare Litigation) to lead the organization’s medical malpractice and professional liability litigation portfolio. You will oversee regulatory matters, guide executive leadership, and partner with clinical, risk, compliance, and outside counsel to advance organizational goals while protecting the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active law license in good standing in Indiana.
• Significant experience handling complex litigation matters, including medical malpractice, healthcare litigation, or professional liability claims.
• Experience managing government investigations, regulatory matters, and administrative proceedings.
• Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and advocacy skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage medical malpractice and professional liability matters from initial assessment through resolution.
• Develop litigation and settlement strategies that align legal, financial, and operational objectives.
• Direct and oversee outside counsel to ensure effective and cost-efficient representation.
• Analyze litigation trends and recommend proactive risk mitigation strategies.
• Lead responses to government investigations, subpoenas, audits, surveys, and administrative proceedings.
• Advise leadership on interactions with state and federal regulators.
• Mentor and collaborate with legal department staff to support enterprise goals.
