Senior Healthcare Infrastructure, Cloud & Security Engineer
Position Summary
United Theranostics is seeking a highly experienced Senior Healthcare IT Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer to lead the design, implementation, security, and ongoing management of our enterprise technology infrastructure. This role is responsible for overseeing our cloud environments (AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform), healthcare systems infrastructure, network architecture, cybersecurity posture, identity management, and physical security systems across a rapidly expanding national healthcare network.
The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in cloud infrastructure, networking, systems administration, cybersecurity, and healthcare technology platforms, with experience maintaining HIPAA-compliant environments that support clinical operations, medical imaging, and enterprise applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, manage, and optimize infrastructure across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Architect and maintain highly available, secure, and scalable cloud environments.
- Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation where appropriate.
- Manage cloud networking, routing, VPN connectivity, security groups, firewalls, and access controls.
- Monitor cloud resource utilization, performance, costs, and security posture.
- Manage backups, disaster recovery, business continuity, and high-availability solutions.
Identity & Access Management
- Administer Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Active Directory, LDAP, SSO, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
- Manage user provisioning, role-based access controls (RBAC), privileged access management, and conditional access policies.
- Integrate cloud and on-premise identity systems.
- Maintain secure authentication mechanisms across enterprise platforms and applications.
Systems Administration
- Administer Windows Server and Linux environments.
- Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, file services, print services, and server virtualization platforms.
- Deploy, maintain, and monitor enterprise applications and services.
- Manage certificate infrastructures, TLS/SSL certificates, PKI, and secure communications.
- Support application deployment and hosting within cloud and hybrid environments.
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure.
- Configure and manage IPSec VPN tunnels between AWS, Azure, healthcare facilities, business partners, and third-party vendors.
- Manage routing, VLANs, firewalls, WAN/LAN connectivity, DNS, load balancing, and network segmentation.
- Administer and troubleshoot PFSense, Ubiquiti, Cisco, and similar networking platforms.
- Perform network capacity planning and performance optimization.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Maintain HIPAA-compliant infrastructure and security controls.
- Implement and monitor security policies, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, endpoint protection, and vulnerability management programs.
- Conduct security audits, risk assessments, and remediation efforts.
- Manage incident response, security monitoring, and threat mitigation activities.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, NIST, CIS, and healthcare security best practices.
- Oversee endpoint management and Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms such as Microsoft Intune.
Healthcare Technology Infrastructure
- Support healthcare applications and integrations across clinical and operational environments.
- Manage DICOM infrastructure including Orthanc, Mercure, MedDream, and related imaging platforms.
- Support PACS, RIS, VNA, and medical imaging workflows.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to support HL7 and FHIR integrations.
- Assist with deployment and maintenance of healthcare interoperability solutions.
Physical Security Systems
- Manage enterprise physical security systems including:
- Access control systems
- Smart locks
- Visitor management systems
- Coordinate security policies and physical infrastructure across multiple locations.
- Manage enterprise workstation deployment, imaging, patching, and lifecycle management.
- Administer Microsoft Intune and other MDM solutions.
- Maintain Windows, macOS, and mobile device environments.
- Implement endpoint security and compliance policies.
- Coordinate with cloud providers, telecommunications vendors, cybersecurity firms, healthcare technology vendors, and managed service providers.
- Lead infrastructure implementation projects and technology upgrades.
- Develop infrastructure standards, documentation, and operational procedures.
- Participate in technology strategy and long-term infrastructure planning.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in systems engineering, network engineering, cloud infrastructure, or healthcare IT.
- 10+ years of experience administering enterprise cloud environments.
- Strong expertise in:
- AWS
- Windows Server Administration
- Microsoft Intune or equivalent MDM platforms
- Experience configuring and managing:
- Firewalls
- DNS/DHCP
- SSL/TLS certificates
- PKI infrastructure
- Experience with HIPAA-compliant healthcare environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel occasionally to healthcare facilities as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with healthcare organizations, hospitals, imaging centers, or clinical research sites.
