Sentara Health is hiring a Senior Underwriter for remote work. You will underwrite complex employer groups and drive strategic pricing decisions across Fully Insured and Self-Funded products.

You will mentor underwriters, support high-profile cases and RFPs, and collaborate with Sales, Actuarial, and Leadership. The role includes contributing to process improvement and underwriting strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree REQUIRED
• Underwriter – 7 years of experience REQUIRED
• Health Plan experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Underwrite employer groups of high complexity and lead strategic rating decisions balancing competitiveness and profitability.
• Apply deep expertise in claims analysis, actuarial concepts, and funding arrangements for Fully Insured and Self-Funded underwriting.
• Mentor and subject‑matter expert for Underwriters and Trainees; supports high-profile cases and RFPs; collaborates with Sales, Actuarial, and Leadership.
• Contribute to process improvement, training development, and underwriting strategy.
