Job summary

UW Health Rehabilitation is seeking a Health Information Management (HIM) Manager to oversee operations, ensure the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of medical records, and support physicians with EMR use and timely record completion. You will manage release-of-information processes and ensure compliance with HIPAA and accreditation standards.

A strong emphasis on privacy, training, and department leadership is required.

Qualifications

• RHIT (or eligible) or RHIA (or eligible) or AHIMA coding certification.
• Two (2)+ years of HIM leadership experience preferred, ideally in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations of the HIM department ensuring integrity and availability of medical records.
• Assist in planning, directing, and maintaining department workflows and HIPAA/compliance adherence.
• Manage release-of-information processes and ROI within required timeframes.
• Supervise HIM staff, onboarding and ongoing training.
• Support audits, survey readiness, data integrity and privacy/security practices.
• Monitor HIM metrics and drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure documentation and retention practices meet legal and regulatory requirements.
