Job summary

Genentech is seeking a senior leader to guide Immunology Research in South San Francisco. The VP will shape strategy, foster an innovative, rigorous environment, and drive cross-disciplinary programs spanning neuroscience, oncology, CVRM, ophthalmology and infectious diseases.

The role reports to the Senior Vice President of Research-Biology within gRED and oversees budgets, timelines, and external partnerships to accelerate therapeutic progress and impact for patients.

Qualifications

• PhD, MD, MD / PhD or equivalent advanced degree.
• Proven leader with 10–15 years of experience; 5+ years at director level or above.
• Outstanding track record of scientific publications, presentations and/or patents.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with proven cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to foster a diverse, inclusive environment and mentor scientific leaders.

Responsibilities

• Shaping and executing immunology research strategy to maximize impact.
• Collaborating with Drug Discovery to explore novel modalities and target pathways.
• Managing budgets, resources, and timelines to deliver research programs.
• Ensuring regulatory compliance and ethical standards across activities.
• Representing Genentech externally at scientific conferences and meetings.
