Job summary

Genentech’s Antibody Engineering group seeks a visionary Principal Scientist to lead a bench-based laboratory team in South San Francisco. You will pioneer protein technologies that connect developability with biological function to advance our biologics pipeline.

You will define molecular requirements, drive platform innovation, and collaborate across Discovery Biology, Structural Biology, Translational Science, and Technical Development to deliver next-generation therapeutics for patients.

Qualifications

PhD in biochemistry, chemical biology, structural biology, or a closely related field.
Strong track record in protein engineering and translating science to therapeutics.
Exceptional written and verbal communication; able to lead interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

Lead a bench-focused lab team and drive high-impact experiments.
Develop molecular formats bridging developability with biological function.
Define molecular requirements for projects and advance clinical candidates.
Collaborate across Discovery Biology, Structural Biology, and Translational Science.
