Rivian seeks an Electrical Hardware Mechanical Engineer to shape and test the sensor cleaning system for its L4 autonomous program in Palo Alto. You will drive bench-to-vehicle validation, own the lab, and define tests with acceptance criteria.

Collaboration with design, ADAS, EE, and suppliers will close actions and improve sensor performance. You will develop test plans, create fixtures, and manage data acquisition and automation, leveraging Python, LabVIEW, and CAD tools.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in automotive or autonomy; sensor cleaning experience preferred
• BS in mechanical engineering or equivalent
• Solid fluid mechanics and aerodynamics fundamentals
• Strong data acquisition: instrumentation, DAQ, LabVIEW, CAN logging, high-speed video
• Ability to define tests from requirements, not just procedures
• Proficiency in Python for test automation and data analysis; DOE & statistics
• CAD proficiency for fixtures; Catia preferred; 3D printing & machining
• Knowledge of DVP&R and DFMEA

Responsabilités

• Lead test and performance evaluation for the sensor cleaning system from bench characterization to vehicle validation
• Own and operate the sensor cleaning lab: equipment spec, procurement, roadmap, and test scheduling
• Develop test plans and component-level performance requirements with acceptance criteria
• Design, build, and instrument test benches, fixtures, and rapid prototype hardware
• Own data acquisition and test automation: instrumentation, DAQ setup, data logging
• Lead root cause investigations of test failures and drive DFMEA updates
• Coordinate cross-functional actions with design, ADAS, EE, and suppliers
• Support low-voltage electrical integration of sensor cleaning actuators
• Support system and vehicle-level sensor cleaning testing and validation
• Present test data clearly to engineering and leadership to drive decisions
• Perform other duties as required
