Job summary

Gatik, a leader in autonomous middle-mile logistics, is seeking a Senior Systems & Safety Engineer – Hardware to lead safety architecture, reliability engineering, and functional safety compliance for the AV compute, sensor suite, power distribution units and networking backbones. This onsite role is in Santa Clara, CA.

This position requires ensuring the hardware stack withstands thermal, vibration and component failure conditions without compromising safe autonomous operation.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years in hardware safety engineering or systems engineering in automotive/aerospace.
  • Deep knowledge of ISO 26262, ISO 16750, SAE J1455, and FMVSS.
  • Experience with FMEDA, FTA, and worst-case circuit analysis.
  • Expert knowledge of Automotive Ethernet, CAN-FD, LIN, PCIe, and high-speed topologies.
  • Experience with high-power DC-DC converters, smart power modules, and BMS.

Responsibilities

  • Lead hardware functional safety activities and safety case development.
  • Evaluate and qualify compute, sensor, and power hardware from Tier-1 suppliers.
  • Define hardware requirements for compliance and system safety.
  • Design fault-injection methodologies to validate diagnostics.
  • Produce safety manuals and FMEDA reports for safety sign-off.
