Job summary

AV is seeking a hardware repair technician in San Diego to lead repairs, warranty, service, and upgrades of hardware. You will handle returns, diagnose faults, and ensure products meet quality standards, working with engineers on root-cause analysis and upgrades.

The role requires 3–5 years of experience, on-site work, and is aligned with a strong emphasis on electronics and RF systems. The team collaborates across mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering to maintain throughput.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent in Electrical/Mechanical/Robotics or related field, or strong hands-on experience.
• 5–7 years of hardware repair, debugging, or defect analysis in electronics/systems.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and tool proficiency for electronics assembly and repair.
• Proficient in electronics troubleshooting, including use of multimeters.

Responsibilities

• Receive, log, triage, and process hardware returns and upgrade requests.
• Perform diagnostics to isolate faulty subsystems (mechanical, electrical, firmware, connectivity).
• Repair RF assemblies including connectors, cables and harnesses.
• Support production with firmware updates, calibration, alignment, burn‑in, and validation testing after repair.
• Collaborate with engineering to obtain schematics, test procedures, ECNs, and tolerances.
• Refurbish, rework, or upgrade units per specifications or customer requests.
• Document repair steps, root causes, and lessons learned; maintain logs/databases.
• Ensure repairs meet quality, safety, and regulatory requirements (ESD, cleanroom).
