Job summary

AeroVironment in San Diego is seeking a Hardware Repair Technician to lead the repair, warranty, service, and upgrade of hardware assemblies. You will diagnose, repair, and test units, working closely with engineering on ECNs and tolerances to ensure quality and performance.

The role requires 3–5 years of hardware repair experience, strong soldering and RF skills, and proficiency with schematics and debugging.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent in a technical discipline or hands-on experience.
• At least 3–5 years of hardware repair experience in electronics or systems environments.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and electronics troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with RF principles (frequency, impedance, gain, noise).
• Ability to read schematics and relate symptoms to root causes.
• Excellent documentation and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Receive, log, and triage hardware returns and upgrade requests.
• Perform detailed diagnostics and troubleshooting to isolate faulty subsystems.
• Repair RF assemblies, connectors, cables, and subassemblies.
• Support production with firmware updates, calibration, and validation testing.
• Collaborate with engineering to obtain schematics, ECNs, and tolerances.
• Implement corrective modifications per engineering direction.
• Refurbish, rework, or upgrade units per specifications.
• Document repair steps and root causes; maintain repair logs.
