Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. seeks a Senior Hardware Repair Technician in San Diego to act as a technical lead for repairs, refurbishment, and defect management. You will diagnose, repair, test, and upgrade hardware while collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams.

The role requires strong hands-on electronics, RF, and system-level debugging skills, with mentoring responsibilities and no formal people-management duties.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, technical certification, trade-school training, or equivalent practical experience in electrical/mechanical/robotics or related field.
• Minimum of five years of hardware repair, debugging, electronics manufacturing, or similar.
• Senior technician/lead experience without formal people-management accountability.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior technical lead for hardware repairs, warranty returns, service, refurbishment, upgrades, and defect management.
• Receive, inspect, triage, and prioritize incoming hardware returns and upgrade requests.
• Independently complete complex repairs, refurbishment, and upgrades.
• Coordinate repair priorities across repair, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams.
• Provide mentoring and knowledge transfer to less-experienced technicians.
