Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced Lead Hardware Engineer to drive SerDes and Ethernet connectivity developments for automotive applications. You will lead cross-functional efforts with software, mechanical, and ECU teams to deliver robust, manufacturable hardware solutions.

Responsibilities include conducting worst‑case and SI/PI analyses, guiding design reviews, and developing comprehensive test strategies and specifications for production readiness.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or Computer Science.
• 5+ total years of engineering experience at OEM, semiconductor supplier, or Tier 1 ECU supplier.
• 3+ years of engineering experience in electronic hardware design and development.
• Working knowledge of automotive electronic hardware and automotive software architecture.
• Strong proficiency in circuit design, schematic creation, and PCB layout.
• Experience with Mentor Graphics Xpedition and ORCAD.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware development of wired connectivity technology, including SerDes and Ethernet-based solutions.
• Collaborate with software, mechanical, manufacturing, ECU design, and semiconductor teams.
• Perform worst-case, signal integrity, and power integrity analyses for SerDes and Ethernet interfaces.
• Troubleshoot hardware issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions across ECUs and connectivity hardware.
• Conduct design reviews to ensure manufacturable designs meeting performance, safety, and reliability targets.
• Develop hardware requirements and test specifications for SerDes/Ethernet connectivity and circuitry.
• Develop test strategies for component, board-level validation, system integration, and production readiness.
• Lead bench testing including bring-up, characterization, and prototype/production-intent hardware debugging.
• Establish semiconductor and ECU product-line expertise focused on SerDes, Ethernet PHYs, switches, and related components.
• Manage technology roadmaps with industry leaders and semiconductor partners.
