Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to lead the development of compute and GPU server platforms in Cambridge, MA. You will drive architecture, design for manufacturability, bring-up, validation, and release, ensuring top-tier performance and reliability.

Requires 8+ years in hardware engineering, server-board expertise, and strong Linux scripting. You will collaborate with OEM/ODM partners to balance performance, supply continuity, and TCO.

Qualifications

• 8 years of relevant hardware engineering experience.
• Foundation in server architecture and board-level design/debug.
• Comfort with low-level buses and test tools (IC, SPI, UART, scopes).
• Experience validating platforms (power/thermal, signal integrity, PCIe/NVMe).
• Proficiency in Linux and scripting (Python, Bash).
• Vendor management experience and ability to negotiate with partners.

Responsibilities

• Own platform development for compute and GPU servers.
• Define requirements, review schematics/layouts, guide DFM, drive platform NPI from EVT to MP.
• Lead bring-up and debug of boards and systems (power, thermal, storage, networking, manageability).
• Develop and execute validation plans; determine root causes across HW/FW/SW.
• Collaborate with OEM/ODM, silicon, and component suppliers to balance performance and cost.
