Job summary

Amazon in Seattle, WA is seeking a Sr. Hardware Development Engineer within Hardware Engineering Services to lead mechanical/thermal design for rack sub-systems in large-scale data centers.

You will apply advanced thermal management, guide cross-discipline teams, perform design verification, and mentor engineers as you push for reliability, performance and cost efficiency. Qualifications

• Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures.
• Experience in server technologies such as thermal, mechanical, power, and signal integrity.
• Experience in compute and storage server architecture and design for large scale applications.
• 5+ years experience in mechanical design for server technologies or Data Center applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design and development for rack sub-systems and associated components (frame, rails, chassis, air dams, sesimic brackets, stabilizers, blanking panels).
• Validate subsystems and components meet NPI program requirements.
• Participate in the cross-discipline design process working with other HW and SW team members to develop optimized integrated solutions.
• Conduct failure analysis and solution validation.
• Manage interaction with overseas resources.
• Provide mentorship and technical reviews to a team of mechanical/thermal design engineers.
