Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Senior Mechanical/Thermal Engineer to own the mechanical and thermal design of AWS network hardware, from requirements to volume production. You will develop and validate solutions for switch, module, and rack levels with hands-on CAD/thermal expertise.

You will collaborate across electrical, firmware, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to converge on reliable, cost-effective designs while driving multiple iterations to completion in a dynamic data center environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of hardware design and validation of components, subsystems and systems experience.
• Experience in 3D CAD.
• 2+ years of experience working with ODM/JDM/CM suppliers in a product development environment.

Responsibilities

• Identify and analyze thermal and mechanical requirements for network platforms and rack assemblies.
• Conceive and develop trade studies on thermal solutions balancing performance, cost, and manufacturability.
• Create and iterate detailed 3D CAD models of mechanical and thermal designs.
• Perform thermal simulations (CFD) and mechanical analyses (FEA) for all load conditions.
• Develop test plans and perform DOE-based reliability assessments.
• Define qualification plans and acceptance testing methods for volume production.
• Produce complete design packages with drawings, reports, BOMs, and assembly docs.
• Drive root cause analysis on field failures and collaborate with operations.
