Job summary

State of Nevada — Summit View Youth Center (SVYC) in Las Vegas seeks a Group Supervisor III to oversee care, education, treatment and custody of juvenile offenders in a 48-bed male facility. You will guide youth toward pro-social behavior, coach and counsel, and support treatment teams.

Responsibilities include supervising youths, conducting intake, maintaining records, and applying de-escalation and safety measures.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, sociology, counseling and guidance, human services, social services, education, criminal justice or closely related field with 1 year of youth/custodial experience; OR a high school diploma with 3 years of relevant experience; OR 1 year as Group Supervisor II in Nevada State service.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the activities of youths within assigned unit.
• Observe work habits, behavior and attitude to ensure rules are followed.
• Provide guidance on assignments, dress, hygiene and conduct.
• Participate in treatment team to implement treatment plans.
• Document youths' progress and development.
• Conduct intake interviews and review case history files.
• Perform security checks, head counts and searches to maintain safety.
• Respond to emergencies and de-escalate violent situations.
• Maintain individual case records and incident reports.
• Instruct youths in life, educational and vocational skills and assist with homework.
• Coordinate schedules with the facility’s program and security needs.
