Job summary

CIBC US is seeking a Senior Group Portfolio Manager to lead portfolio management, underwriting, and risk oversight for a defined group of commercial banking clients. You’ll guide Portfolio Managers, Associates, and Credit Analysts, setting direction and building capability to deliver high-quality risk-adjusted financing.

You’ll oversee deal structure, client onboarding, and portfolio maintenance while partnering with Relationship Managers, Market Leaders, and Credit Risk.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial or corporate banking with underwriting and credit structuring.
• Proven ability to lead portfolio management and risk oversight.
• Strong leadership, collaboration with risk and business partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead portfolio management oversight across a defined area, ensuring reviews, renewals, reporting, risk ratings, pricing grid reviews, and remediation items are completed on time.
• Drive sound underwriting and approval practices with Relationship Managers and Group Heads within approved limits.
• Strengthen execution and client experience by managing workflow visibility, onboarding, and timely delivery.
• Champion risk management and controls by leading first line risk practices, supporting quarterly controls, and preparing for reviews and regulatory examinations.
• Develop people and team capability through clear expectations, coaching, and development opportunities.
• Collaborate across partners to address portfolio issues and provide strategic direction.
