Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is seeking a Senior Group Leader for the School Age program in Sterling. This part-time role focuses on creating a positive environment for early learners and guiding other staff.

You will design developmentally appropriate lessons, supervise activities for ages 3–10, mentor Group Leaders, and collaborate with families and site leadership to ensure safety and engagement. The position runs Monday–Friday with before and after care shifts and offers competitive

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience with children ages 3–6 in a licensed or educational setting.
• High school diploma or GED required; CDA or early childhood coursework strongly preferred.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise engaging activities for students age 3 – 10yrs old
• Design developmentally appropriate lesson plans and routines
• Provide mentorship and support to Group Leaders
• Communicate clearly with families and site leadership
• Monitor safety, attendance, and behavior
• Build strong, trusting relationships with children
