Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is seeking dedicated Group Leaders for our School Age Child Care program in Bethesda. This part-time role offers mornings and evenings during the school year, with the opportunity to positively influence children in a collaborative afterschool setting.

Responsibilities include supervising children, creating a safe environment, planning activities supporting social-emotional growth, and communicating with families and staff.

Qualifications

• Experience working with elementary-middle aged children in a school or childcare setting.
• High school diploma or GED required; relevant coursework or degree preferred
• Strong interpersonal and behavior management skills
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Experience fostering an environment for children of all abilities is valued.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage school-age children in recreational, academic, and enrichment activities
• Create a safe and stimulating environment for all participants
• Plan and implement daily lessons and activities that support social-emotional and academic growth
• Provide guidance and positive behavior support
• Maintain communication with families and program staff
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times
