Job summary

Swickard Auto Group in Las Vegas seeks a Group Controller to lead the shared services accounting function across multiple brands, ensuring GAAP compliance and accurate financial reporting.

You will manage 50+ accounting professionals, partner with the CFO, drive process improvements, and support strategic decisions for approximately $3 billion in revenue across six states. This senior role offers executive visibility and opportunity for growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience incl. 3+ years public accounting audit and 5+ years in accounting management in a large company.
• CPA preferred but not required to be active.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, GL management, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Experience with automotive dealership accounting, inventory, fixed assets, payroll, DMV/title processes is a plus.
• Proven ability to lead large accounting teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and financial management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee Group Accounting, including GL, Inventory, Fixed Assets, and Payroll, and guide senior staff.
• Direct automotive accounting operations across the organization, ensuring accurate reporting and policy alignment.
• Oversee chart of accounts setup and maintenance for proper classification and reporting.
• Manage preparation and analysis of financial statements and reconciliations per U.S. GAAP.
• Direct month-, quarter-, and year-end close processes with timely stakeholder reporting.
• Oversee payroll accounting, accruals, liabilities, and payroll expenses.
• Oversee DMV adjusting activities and ensure proper documentation.
• Ensure compliance with manufacturer reporting and audit procedures; coordinate with CFO-led audit.
• Partner with CFO to maintain internal controls and segregation of duties.
• Monitor financial performance, variances, and provide leadership with insights and recommendations.
• Lead process improvements, automation, and system enhancements; manage change across transitions.
• Develop, coach, and mentor accounting staff with HR on career growth.
