Blue Origin in the United States is seeking a Sr. Design Reliability Engineer to embed reliability into ground systems, tooling, GSE, and factory automation that enable rocket launches.

You will collaborate with design and manufacturing engineering to identify and eliminate failure modes before they reach the floor. The role requires leading FMEA, reliability assessments, and design reviews, developing standards and procedures, and spending significant time on the shop floor with operators to

Qualifications

• 10+ years in reliability, design, or systems engineering in manufacturing/aerospace/high-consequence environments.
• Experience leading FMEA, design reviews, and reliability assessments on mechanical, fluids, electrical, or controls systems.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, fluid schematics, and electrical diagrams.
• Strong communication and influencing skills to drive design changes.

Responsibilities

• Lead FMEA and design reviews on tooling, GSE, and factory-automation projects to close reliability risks.
• Define and enforce reliability requirements with design and manufacturing teams.
• Track reliability findings through design, build, and early operations.
• Develop reliability standards, design guidelines, and engineering procedures.
• Support commissioning and early-use stabilization of new equipment and translate findings into maintenance plans.
• Build metrics and tools to track design reliability performance across the portfolio.
• Spend significant time on the floor observing hardware and closing the loop on design changes.
