Job summary

Redwire Space Missions LLC seeks a Staff Ground Systems Engineer to design, integrate, and operate satellite ground systems in Littleton, CO. You will translate spacecraft requirements into detailed ground system specifications and drive end-to-end operational workflows across teams.

The role emphasizes hands-on experience with operational concepts, TT&C interfaces, and mission operations, while supporting government customers and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, computer science, or related STEM field.
• 5+ years of experience supporting satellite ground system development, integration, test, or mission operations.
• Strong systems engineering foundation spanning concept development, requirements management, design, I&T, operations, maintenance, and decommissioning.
• Experience defining and managing system architectures, interface definitions, ICDs, data flows, and verification approaches.
• Hands-on experience with OpCon development, S2G ICDs, ground system requirement derivation, or mission ops requirement definition.
• Ability to work independently, anticipate customer needs, and craft well-reasoned solutions for broad technical challenges.
• Proficiency with MS Office and project management software.
• Proven ability to establish trust and maintain strong client relationships.
• Understanding of Government acquisition processes and milestone reviews.

Responsibilities

• Support Government customers in planning, engineering, integration, and activities for satellite ground systems.
• Develop, refine, and document OpCons, mission threads, Use Cases, and S2G ICDs for clear end-to-end workflows.
• Analyze site-level ground system architectures and assess impacts from upgrades and new deliveries.
• Translate space segment and mission requirements into detailed ground system requirements.
• Collaborate with spacecraft, payload, network, TT&C, and user segment teams to define interfaces.
• Support integration and test planning and execution across ground and space segments.
• Review designs, I&T artifacts, verification traceability, and operational concepts for feasibility.
• Participate in readiness events such as rehearsals, simulations, and transition-to-operations.
• Develop and maintain ground system documentation including guides and procedures.
• Provide reviews and risk assessments to customers with clear cost/schedule impacts.
• Deliver analyses and briefings informing customer decision-making.
