Job summary

Solar Landscape is seeking a senior power systems professional to lead the company’s grid strategy, focusing on utility transmission and distribution planning, DER integration, and grid modernization across U.S. markets.

You will work with utilities and internal teams to unlock hosting capacity, develop DERMS pilots, and guide integration of solar plus storage while addressing planning assumptions and interconnection strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10–20+ years in electric utility planning, transmission or distribution engineering, grid modernization, or DER integration.
• Deep understanding of utility planning methodologies, system constraints, reliability and capital planning.
• Experience with distributed energy resources, renewable energy, energy storage, or advanced grid technologies.
• Familiarity with hosting-capacity analysis, interconnection impacts, and grid modernization initiatives.
• Ability to influence utility stakeholders and advance new technical approaches.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to translate grid issues into actionable recommendations.
• Experience in a major electric utility, ISO/RTO, or grid-related consulting preferred.
• Familiarity with PJM, NYISO, CAISO, ERCOT, MISO or other US markets preferred.
• Experience advancing DERMS, hosting capacity, flexible interconnection, or related pilots.
• Professional Engineer license or advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Engage utility planning and engineering teams to increase hosting capacity on constrained circuits.
• Build relationships across utility planning, asset management, engineering, operations, regulatory and innovation teams.
• Develop data-driven proposals aligning distributed energy deployment with reliability and planning objectives.
• Identify and advance DERMS, dynamic hosting capacity, flexible interconnection, non-wire solutions and other pilots.
• Analyze hosting-capacity maps, load forecasts, infrastructure plans and capital programs to inform strategy.
• Interpret utility planning filings and identify impacts on DER deployment.
• Monitor feeder/substation constraints, load growth, electrification trends and planned investments.
• Provide guidance on integrating distributed solar and storage within distribution networks.
• Translate planning information into clear recommendations for leadership and teams.
