Job summary

1898 & Co., a Burns & McDonnell division, seeks a Grid Systems Senior Solution Architect to modernize electric utility grid operations. You will lead SCADA/EMS/DMS/DERMS initiatives, drive architecture and integration, and guide project execution for major modernization programs.

The role emphasizes grid automation, cross-team collaboration, and delivering high-quality consulting services to clients in the utility sector.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of experience providing enterprise or operations architecture strategies, enterprise or operations integration solutions, and services leveraging various applications and technical platforms.
• Preferred: 5 years working in the Electric Utility Industry or equivalent.
• Excellent enterprise architecture and integration skills, including data architecture, cloud architecture, middleware, communications, and other architectural methods and practices.
• Experience with electric utility clients in implementing and integrating operational systems, such as OMS, DMS, ADMS, AMI, Distribution Automation, and DER, is preferred.
• Strong ability to influence or lead project execution.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, develop and implement SCADA, EMS, OMS, DMS, ADMS, and DERMS solutions for complex business needs.
• Support commissioning, testing and deployment of these systems.
• Provide field support, troubleshooting and project coordination for SCADA and DERMS.
• Lead or assist with program Estimating, planning, and budgeting for delivery.
• Assist with design, build, test, triaging defects, and deployment activities.
• Ensure project milestones, budget, scope, quality and objectives are met.
