LS Energy Solutions LLC in Charlotte, NC seeks a Senior Application Engineer to design and deliver battery energy storage system (BESS) and PCS integration. This role bridges engineering, sales pre‑sales, and site execution to size and deploy utility-scale energy storage solutions onto the grid.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or Power Systems.
• 5+ years of experience in applications engineering, inverter testing, or commissioning for grid-tie energy storage or solar systems.

Responsibilities

• Execute functional, performance, thermal, and dynamic grid-support testing on utility-scale grid-tie inverters and PCS.
• Perform Hardware-in-the-Loop testing and firmware validation to verify control algorithms and fault ride-through.
• Develop test plans, setup test rigs, evaluate data, and author validation reports for pre-commissioning.
• Lead certifications and compliance support with UL 1741 SB, IEEE 1547.1, UL 9540/9540A, NFPA 855, and grid code.
• Interface with NRTLs (UL, CSA, Intertek) during factory and field testing.
• Provide on-site customer application support and pre-sales technical assistance.
