Job summary

The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation is seeking a Grants Officer to advance its mission through efficient and compliant grantmaking processes from inception to closeout. You will partner with Program, Legal, Finance, and other teams to oversee grant documentation, agreements, and data integrity, while driving training and improvements in policy and systems.

Based in Palo Alto, this role operates in a hybrid model, requiring onsite presence at least one day per week and additional days around

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in grantmaking or nonprofit/for-profit sectors.
• Experience with contract drafting, negotiation, and management.
• Experience managing databases and data integrity.
• Advanced Excel and database management; basic AI skills.
• Understanding SMART goals, SLAs, and KPIs to align work with outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate grant processing by monitoring the pipeline and coordinating with Program leads.
• Lead final review of grants, verify database records and budgets for compliance.
• Draft, execute, and track grant agreements and amendments with timeliness.
• Design and deliver grantmaking training for individuals and groups.
• Resolve data inconsistencies to maintain reporting integrity.
• Provide guidance on policies, processes, and systems to programs and grantees.
• Ensure legal, policy, or business rule applicability with stakeholder input.
• Collaborate to solve contracting and grantmaking issues across teams.
• Maintain and improve training resources and templates for grants.
• Lead continuous improvement with responsible AI to enhance workflows.
• Support grantees through the grant lifecycle.
